# Truway

> Truway is a financial traceability platform for social foundations in Latin America. A foundation splits the money it receives across areas and projects, the people out in the field log each expense from their phone with the receipt attached, and the foundation exports the report each donor asks for — in that donor's own format.

The problem Truway solves is not accounting. It is reporting. Foundations that live on restricted grants have to prove to each donor how their money was spent, and every donor demands a different format, so the same numbers get rebuilt by hand in Excel over and over. Truway records each expense once, with its receipt and its owner, and rebuilds it into whichever format is needed.

## Who it is for

Organizations with restricted, multi-donor project funding — foundations, NGOs and social-impact organizations in Latin America. It complements the systems they already use rather than replacing them: no organization is asked to abandon its accounting software.

It is not a fit for organizations funded by flexible, unrestricted money, since they have no donor-reporting obligation to automate.

## How it works

1. **Split the budget.** The money received is divided across areas and projects. Each area gets its own balance, so nobody spends what was set aside for something else.
2. **Send the receipt.** Whoever made the purchase sends a photo over WhatsApp or Telegram. No app, no password, no training. Truway extracts the amount, the vendor and the date, files it against the right project, and asks for confirmation in a single message. Whoever approves an expense is always a different person from whoever logged it.
3. **Export the report.** Pick the donor and the period. The report comes out in that donor's format, with the receipts attached and a verification code the donor can check independently.

## Verification

Every approved expense gets a verification code. A donor can open that code and confirm on their own that the amount and the date were not modified after the fact — without an account and without having to take the organization's word for it. Only the amount and the date are made verifiable; names, documents and details of the people served stay inside the organization and are never published.

## Frequently asked questions

- **Does the field team have to install anything?** No. A photo of the receipt over WhatsApp or Telegram is the whole job on their side.
- **Does Truway replace accounting software?** No. It captures day-to-day field spending and turns it into donor reports; the accountant keeps their system.
- **What does the verification code do?** It lets a donor confirm independently that an expense's amount and date were not changed afterwards.
- **Who can see the data?** Only the organization. Personal details of the people served are never published.
